Privacy Policy

Last updated: 08.10.26

This policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit faketoshi.co.uk or buy from us, how we use it, and your rights.

Who we are

faketoshi.co.uk is run by Mark Hunter, trading as Tulip Publishing, a sole trader based at 27 Sutton Grange Close, Harrogate, HG3 2UR, United Kingdom. We are the controller of your personal information. For any privacy question or request, email orders@faketoshi.co.uk.

What we collect

  • Order details: your name, email address, billing and delivery address, phone number (if given), what you bought and how much you paid.
  • Account details: if you create an account, your login details and order history.
  • Messages: anything you send us by email.
  • Technical information: your IP address, used to estimate your country so we can show prices in your local currency and apply the right product rules, and basic information about your device and browser.

We never see or store your full card details. Card and PayPal payments are handled directly by our payment providers.

How we use it, and why

  • To process and deliver your order, send order emails and download links, and provide customer support. We do this to perform our contract with you.
  • To keep business and tax records, as required by law.
  • To prevent fraud and keep the website secure, which is in our legitimate interests and yours.

We do not send marketing emails, and we never sell your information.

Who we share it with

We only share your information with the companies that help us run the shop, and only what they need:

  • Bookvault (Printondemand-worldwide Ltd), which prints and posts printed books. They receive your name, delivery address and order details.
  • WooPayments (Automattic, with payments processed by Stripe) and PayPal, which process payments and help prevent fraud.
  • Web Hosting UK, which hosts this website and its email.
  • MaxMind, whose database we use on our own server to estimate your country from your IP address.

Some of these providers may process information outside the UK. Where they do, they use legal safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or standard contractual clauses.

Cookies and embedded content

We use only the cookies needed to run the shop, such as remembering your basket, keeping you logged in, remembering your currency and securing payments. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies.

Our podcast page includes an episode player from Acast, and some pages link to YouTube, X, Apple Podcasts and Spotify. Embedded players and those sites may collect information about you under their own privacy policies.

How long we keep it

We keep order records for six years after the end of the tax year they relate to, as required by HMRC. Account details are kept until you ask us to delete your account. Emails are kept for as long as needed to deal with your query.

Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, or send it to you or another organisation. You can also object to us using it. Some of these rights are limited where we must keep records by law. To make a request, email orders@faketoshi.co.uk. We will reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
